Philadelphia Eagles Notebook: Birds keeping an eye on McCoy

PHILADELPHIA - LeSean McCoy starts at running back when the Eagles take on the Washington Redskins Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.

Don't look for McCoy to finish the game regardless of how the Eagles are doing. Reid, likely to be canned when the season ends, came off as cold and uncaring the last time these teams played. McCoy sustained a severe concussion on a running play late in a blowout loss to Redskins.

"We're going to keep an eye on him," Reid said Friday. "He's not going to play the whole game. We'll see how he does and go from there."

Starting with injuries, Reid ran through the usual drill after practice, just as he's done in each his 14 years with the Eagles.

Fullback Stanley Havili (hamstring)...out.

Running back Chris Polk (turf toe)...doubtful.

Emil Igwenagu works in at fullback. Evan Moore, cut by the Seattle Seahawks this week, gets some snaps at tight end.

The locker room was melancholic.

Veteran defensive end Trent Cole, drafted by Reid in 2005, tried to distance himself from the inevitable.

"I don't know what's going to happen after the season," Cole said. "Whatever happens, happens. If he's here, I'll be more than glad to play for him. And if he's away we've got to accept whoever is coming in."

"I'll remember him as a winning coach who took care of his players," Cole said. "And I like how he ran his outfit."

Rookie Bryce Brown will rotate in with McCoy Sunday.

Brown also will return kickoffs, which he showed promise doing before McCoy was concussed. Brown became the full-time starter until McCoy was cleared to play this weekend.

"I'm excited about that," Brown said of the kickoffs. "I'm excited that (McCoy is) back. He's a great player and I think him being back gives us a better chance of winning, so absolutely."

"I do think we complement each other very well."

NOTES: The Redskins list Robert Griffin III (knee) probable. Defensive end Stephen Bowen (biceps) and right offensive tackle Tyler Polumbus (concussion) are questionable. Reid said Michael Vick will be the No. 3 quarterback Sunday. Vick doesn't expect to dress for the game. Temperatures in the 40s and windy Sunday at the Linc. Villanova University product Brian Westbrook, who retired with the Eagles earlier this season, has been named honorary captain for Sunday.
