LANSDALE - Former Lansdale Police Chief Wallace "Wally" Hendricks has passed away at age 87.
"He was a very dedicated, caring individual, and had a great old country boy sense of humor," said former Mayor Hugh Cullen.
Hendricks joined the Lansdale Police Department in September 1953 and worked his way up the ranks, becoming chief in 1961 after only eight years wearing the department's uniform, first as a patrol officer from 1953-58, then for three years as a sergeant.
